About the Role

The role of an Assistant Manager, focuses on domestic and international corporate clients, including growing Australian businesses and subsidiaries of major multinational corporations. This role will provide you exposure to a diverse portfolio of clients across a broad range of industries. Working predominantly with corporate and international clients provides exposure to complex business structures, cross-border transactions, group reporting requirements, and strategic commercial issues, allowing the Assistant Manager to develop strong technical, analytical, and client management skills.

This is a hybrid opportunity, that will see you working across our two offices (Sydney CBD and GWS), as well as the opportunity to work from home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation/review of accounting and tax advice on a broad range of matters

  • Preparation/review of company income tax returns, including International Dealings Schedule

  • Preparation/review of tax provisions, estimates and tax effect accounting worksheets

  • Preparation/review of special purpose and general purpose financial reports

  • Maintenance/review of fixed asset registers for accounting and tax purposes

  • Preparation/review of Activity Statements and fringe benefits tax returns

  • Preparation/review of annual state-based payroll tax returns and workers compensation insurance policy declarations/renewals

  • Bookkeeping, data processing and management reporting

  • Other services including Taxable Payments Annual Reports (TPAR) and Non-Resident Withholding Tax Returns (NRWHT)

  • Preparation/review of workpapers in line with BDO standards and processes

  • Various internal practice management requirements

Qualifications, Experience & Skills Required:

  • Accounting and/or tax background, including applicable tertiary studies;

  • 5 + years accounting and/or tax experience;

  • Understanding of tax, accounting and financial reporting principles and practices;

  • Xero accounting system knowledge (preferable but not required);

  • Other software platforms that would be highly regarded include Business Fitness, Monday.com and Workday PSA.
